# DAN Token

DAN, the governance and incentivization token of the Dawn LSD protocol, operates as an BEP-20 token, playing a pivotal role in sustaining the protocol's ecosystem through the following mechanisms:

### Governance

DAN holders are actively encouraged to engage in the protocol's governance processes, contributing to its enduring success and security. Participation in governance allows stakeholders to have a direct impact on the evolution and decision-making within the Dawn ecosystem. Learn more about DAN Governance here.

### Incentivization

To ensure the protocol's enduring success, the DAN token serves as a key tool for incentivizing core contributors to the Dawn LSD ecosystem. Additionally, DAN may be employed as a dis-incentivization token, acting as a deterrent in situations where stakeholders engaging in token staking exhibit malicious behavior or fail to fulfill their responsibilities appropriately. Learn more about $DAN incentives here.
